Located in the up-and-coming Paddington basin development of Merchant Square, Lockhouse is an industrial inspired bar & restaurant providing an all-day flexible eating and drinking space.

As part of a £1m investment by BFI Ltd, the project drew inspiration from the building’s architectural elements, incorporating polished concrete floors, reclaimed timber, exposed concrete beams and metal cable trays.

The space was transformed using an eclectic mix of casual and reclaimed furniture, bold splashes of colour and large feature lights. A specially constructed mock shipping container at 1st floor level houses the toilets, to further echo the basin area’s history of industrial warehouses.

The seating layout focuses on the perimeter areas, allowing panoramas of the newly developed waterfront basin to be brought in through double height windows, perfect for customers to soak up the views, at any time of day.

The design has stood the test of time and remains largely unchanged since completion, providing a chameleon site for its new owners Young & Co.
