Ocean View, The Dome
Once a Plymouth museum opened in 1988 by Queen Elizabeth II, before briefly being taken over as a restaurant by Gary Rhodes in 2011, this site had fallen into disrepair.
Described as “one of the best waterfront locations in the country”, this unique piece of architecture was taken from empty shell to a grand space perfect for dining and taking in the stunning views across Plymouth Sound.
The design took inspiration from 1930’s ocean liners, with a deep jewel toned colour palette, contrasted with illuminated gold domed ceilings. Art deco inspired patterns and materials were layered to create a rich sense of opulence, whilst brass stud work and polished ship deck-style floors gave a nod to a luxurious trip to sea.
